Dr Peter McLaughlin formally joined CHIREC International School, Hyderabad, India as CEO in November 2019 when it became a member of the Cognita global family of international schools.

A respected academician, historian, author and educationist, prior to joining CHIREC, Dr McLaughlin had been associated with renowned organizations including The Doon School as Headmaster and Max India Group as CEO of Max Learning Limited.

He has vast experience of over four decades in the education field in the UK, Africa, the Middle East and India in various roles, from school and university teaching to Headmaster, Principal, member and official of prestigious international educational associations, consultant, advisor and CEO. He was the Headmaster of The Doon School, Dehradun, for eight years until 2016. Together with the Chairman of the Board, Dr McLaughlin created and implemented a transformative 10-year Strategic Development Plan for The Doon School - which Fortune magazine credited him with ‘reinventing’. After serving as Senior Advisor to Cognita, one of the world’s largest international schools groups, Dr McLaughlin was enormously proud to have been appointed CEO of CHIREC and to have been at the helm of the school during its accelerated digital transformation in the face of COVID-19.

He is dedicated to building on the great strengths CHIREC has developed over the past three decades, including its strong family ethos, and to enhancing its reputation as a trend-setting and innovative educational institution committed to academic excellence and educating the whole child in and out of the classroom. His strong belief is that the social and emotional aspects of learning and physical and mental wellbeing are the foundations of academic success and rewarding achievement in co-curricular pursuits, and that high motivation and academic aspiration do not have to be accompanied with stress and anxiety.

Dr McLaughlin has been a post-doctoral research Fellow in Economic History at the London School of Economics; run IB and A Level schools in the UK and abroad; been Principal of the British International School, Cairo; and a senior manager and Headmaster of leading UK day and boarding private schools from the 1990s. He is a published author, with a doctoral and research specialism in military history and defence policy, and has lectured in modern European and world history, economic history and defence studies at university level.

With over 30 years of experience in education, Ratna Reddy is an accomplished and visionary educationist who has pioneered new-age education in Hyderabad. From Children’s Recreation Center and CHIREC Preschool in 1989 to India’s premiere institution in 2018, CHIREC has helped nurture global citizens who are changing the world for the better.

As the Founder of CHIREC, Mrs. Ratna Reddy oversees the Kondapur, Jubilee Hills, and Gachibowli Campuses, which have an aggregate of 3,750 students and 480 teachers on their rolls. Alongside her commitment to providing globally-benchmarked K-12 education to her students, Ratna Reddy places the professional development of CHIREC’s faculty as a priority. She has invested significant time and resources in providing CHIREC’s faculty with opportunities to integrate the best international pedagogies and practices within their classrooms. She has been committed in her endeavour to ensure continuous innovative and adaptive learning by the faculty to bring meaningful benefits to students and the entire school community.

When building the foundation of CHIREC, Ratna Reddy took the simple idea of clubbing content from an Indian Curriculum with the best of teaching practices from around the world to build a school that grooms global leaders. Under her leadership, CHIREC has provided an environment that encourages growth, fosters creativity, exploration and discovery. Ratna Reddy works closely with students and faculty to ensure that the curriculum broadens students’ intellectual, physical and emotional horizons to build a strong spirit of integrity, compassion, and generosity.

Ratna Reddy believes that school life must be a quest for meaning that transcends the boundaries of conventional curricula, textbooks, and standardized examinations. She hopes that graduates of CHIREC learn to recognize and manage the intricacies of our world and provide them with the skills and attitudes to take responsible action towards our collective future.

Ratna Reddy received her B.Sc. in Home Science and a Masters (M.Sc) in Child Development from A. N. G. R. University (Hyderabad, India). She then went on to receive her M.A in Early Childhood Education from the University of Iowa (Iowa, U.S.A.).

Ratna Reddy is a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, U.S.A, the Indian Association of Pre-School Education, the Association of Montessori International, the CII – India Women Network, FLO, Hyderabad, and a lifetime member of the Administrative Staff College of India, Hyderabad.

For having pioneered the provision of liberal, engaging and enabling education for students of pre-primary to class XII, Ratna Reddy has been conferred numerous national and international awards.

She has directed several programs, including the CHIREC MUN, the Online Student Council Elections, Digital Library, initiated class Websites as a means for teachers to upload homework and information about specific class activities. Her commitment to the balance between students’ academic achievement, and their personal development, has carried CHIREC International through its first ever International School Award by the British Council.

Iffat Ibrahim received a B.Ed from Annamalai University (Tamil Nadu, India), a B.Sc in Zoology and an M.Sc in Zoology from Delhi University (Delhi, India). She has been recognized as the Most Influential Principal of an Indian School by the World Education Congress in the year 2016, and was awarded the “Acharya Devo Bhava” in commendation of her teaching practices and pedagogical innovation, motivation to learners and outstanding services for the cause of education by Brainfeed Magazine in 2016.

Ms. Sanchita Raha

Ms. Sanchita Raha has joined CHIREC as the Principal of the International Section after Mr. Omkar Joshi’s retirement.

Ms.Sanchita Raha is a veteran educator and leader, having over 24 years of experience in teaching and administration. She has handled several curricula that include ICSE, ISC, SEBA, and IBDP. She was instrumental in setting up the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme at The Heritage School, Kolkata, where she worked for 14 years.

Principal International

Ms. Sanchita Raha has joined CHIREC as the Principal of the International Section after Mr. Omkar Joshi’s retirement.

Ms.Sanchita Raha is a veteran educator and leader, having over 24 years of experience in teaching and administration. She has handled several curricula that include ICSE, ISC, SEBA, and IBDP. She was instrumental in setting up the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme at The Heritage School, Kolkata, where she worked for 14 years.

An alumnus of St. Xavier’s College Kolkata, Ms. Raha has done her Master’s in English from Kolkata University and Bachelor’s in Education from Jadavpur University. She holds certification in TEFL and Master IELTS training.

Her last assignment was as the Director of Access Academy, a pre-undergraduate preparatory program at the Asian University for Women, in Chittagong, Bangladesh offering the American Liberal Arts curriculum. She has worked extensively and closely with young women from 16 Asian countries, having diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds and aspiring to empower themselves through global education so that they are able to become the future voice of their community. English language teaching for purposes of academic reading and writing has been her core competence and she is well versed in developing language models that incorporate the best practices from some of the most widely acclaimed and trusted curricula of the world, including IB. Having been in an educational leadership position for several years, Ms. Raha’s strength lies in education programme policymaking, its evaluation, and implementation.

Apart from this, she takes a keen interest in co-scholastic activities and believes that a strong activities department contributes greatly towards skill building in students. In addition to other responsibilities, Ms. Raha also worked as the Director of Student Services at AUW, where she oversaw the Office of Student Activities, Career Development, and International Program as also Residential Life. She also has extensive experience in conducting training and workshop sessions on skill development for teachers and students.
