Culture of Care
An all-encompassing umbrella of School Health and Safety Guidelines, Safeguarding Principles, Wellbeing Practices and a robust framework of cultivating school-wide Social Emotional Learning Competencies in compliance with the school’s affiliated Education Boards and Indian Government regulations.
We believe that Wellbeing lies at the heart of successful learning and preparing our students to navigate through a dynamic and volatile world. Derived from the Cognita Be Well Charter, wellbeing at CHIREC focuses on 6 contributors: 3 physical contributors - sleep, diet, exercise and 3 mental contributors – connecting, doing, giving. The wellbeing programme at CHIREC strives to create a living and breathing culture of wellbeing where students, parents and educators collaborate to build positive habits that sustain for life, enhancing their productivity, as well as physical and emotional wellness. The programme consists of weekly wellness activities that address each element of wellbeing specifically along with a comprehensive and systemic approach that ensures wellbeing is a part of our school culture and climate. It also includes participation in an annual flagship event ‘Global Be Well Day,’ a day dedicated by Cognita Schools to practice and promote various components of wellness in our lives.
A set of rigorous policies and airtight framework that strengthens our commitment to safeguard and promote the physical and mental health, and safety of our pupils. Our Safeguarding policy ensures that students are kept safe from any harm, abuse, or neglect and all the systems and procedures are in place to protect students, and all the resources (including human resources) of the school are utilized in the best interests of the child.
Health and Safety:
Health & Safety is a comprehensive framework of rules, policies and procedural guidelines with preventive measures that aim to create a safe environment for children, starting from their homes to their schools and back. This includes but is not limited to safety from any kind of violence, disaster, online threats, fire, dining, and/or transportation.
Social and Emotional Learning:
SEL is a systemic, school-wide program and process through which children and adults build the competencies of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills and responsible decision-making. The SEL curriculum at CHIREC helps students achieve personal and collective goals, regulate their emotions and impulses, feel and show empathy for others, share perspectives, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make ethically responsible and caring decisions. Students participating in SEL programs show improved classroom behaviour, an increased ability to manage stress and depression, and better attitudes about themselves, others, and school.
Board & Government Compliance:
All Health & Safety, Safeguarding, Wellbeing and SEL policies developed in this framework are in compliance with CBSE, Cambridge, IBDP Boards and Indian Government regulations including the The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and The Prevention of Sexual Harassment (PoSH) at Workplace Act of India. The school also has a dedicated team of Safeguarding Leads led by Cognita’s Regional Safeguarding Lead as well as Safety Clubs, Health & Wellness and SEL Committees consisting of students, parents and teachers.
